Please tell us about your technique and method and what is your preference in materials?
When I have an idea, I either draw it or use a computer to enhance photographs and drawings. I prefer to create in the moment, letting the clay/mosaic pieces dictate the outcome to some extent. I do not use models so that my creations take on their own personalities.
What tools do you use for your craft?
I mainly use silicon tip clay shapers and some dental tools. I also use long tweezers and wheel nippers for the mosaic.
Do you select materials for use based on strength, color, texture, balance, weight, size or malleability?
All of the above are considered, especially flexibility and color.
What are some of your favorite tools that you use to create your craft designs? Which companies do you use?
I like Pot Clays, Mosaic Heaven, clay shapers and dental tools if you can get them. I also use Pebbles from MaggieHowarth.co.uk
How do you like your color, glazes, marble, red clay etc.? What are the names of your favorite companies?
Botz non-toxic glazes offer great colors and styles.
What other mediums do you use to create your sculptures or ceramic pottery?
Fimo is fun.
Any suggestions what supplies to start off with if you are not quite sure if ceramics and sculpting is for you?
Fimo is good to see if you like to sculpt but a workshop is the best way to find out. See my website I can do them by appointment or booking. For mosaic you can go to mosaicheaven.com and get everything you need just use any old household item and cover it, but keep it small to start with.
